Zimasco Kwekwe division has commissioned facilities to help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the handover event, Namatai Mapfumo of Zimasco Kwekwe division said they were continuously looking at ways to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic through providing necessary facilities needed to fight the disease.
He said that to date they have managed to work largely on dealing with water challenges where they have been sinking boreholes in the main suburbs of Kwekwe that is Mbizo and Amaveni
“As Zimasco Kwekwe division we came up with an action plan of how with can fit in the government efforts on combating the disease and our action is based on the logic that we must prevent the spread of the disease first”
“If the disease requires high standards of hygiene then water is important”
“We have drilled 3 boreholes in Mbizo which are being equipped and we are refurbishing another one in Kwekwe” he said.
Zimasco Kwekwe division also set up public facilities for hand washing across the city of Kwekwe.
“We have also set up hand washing machines in public places, to date we have managed to set 12 different facilities in the city of Kwekwe” he said.
Mapfumo said their emphasise on water delivery services also saw it fit to reach out to important institutions such as Kwekwe General Hospital where they donated tanks.
“The hospital at all times must have water, we have put up a 10000 litres capacity tank”
The company further handed over a ventilator machine to Kwekwe General Hospital.
“Under Treasure Mining Consultancy donated a ventilator machine to Zimasco, and we decided to take the donation to Kwekwe General Hospital”
“We have also set up a hand washing facility for people to wash their hands first before coming into the hospital” he added.
Mapfumo underscored the need to work together with the government saying that unity between people and government will help to stem the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
I urge the citizens to rally behind government calls .If our efforts are not concerted we and we are divided we will be weakened and we will be decimated and the future of the country will be in danger” he said.
Speaking on the same event Kwekwe General Hospital Superintendent Dr Patricia Mapanda thanked the Zimasco Kwekwe division for helping the government in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mapanda said that the company has been handy in many ways, helping to ease the challenges that are being faced by the government.
“I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to Zimasco our all weather friend for supporting and complementing government efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic which has bought a distress in people all over the world” she said.
