Zimasco (Pvt) Limited, a major player in Zimbabwe’s Ferrochrome sector, has an exciting and challenging career opportunity within its Shurugwi & South Dyke Mining Division.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, competent and experienced individuals to fill the vacant post of Drilling Assistant on a 5-year Fixed-Term employment contract basis, renewable subject to performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 ‘O’ Levels including English, Mathematics and Science.
- At least 3 years’ drilling experience in a Mining/Mineral processing environment with a good understanding of meter eater and kempe,
- Full Blasting Licence/Surface Endorsed Blasting Licence holder is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of safety management systems, with exposure to the NOSA SHE system being an added advantage.
- Clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Assisting the Drilling Operator in executing all drilling operations.
- Assisting in drilling operations through maintenance of mud system, pipe racking, coupling drilling rods, ferrying water, carrying core trays and drilling equipment, digging sumps and concreting holes, greasing equipment etc.
- Assisting with Rig Setup and operation.
- Ensuring that drilling operations are done as per procedures, standards and comply with safety regulations.
- Reading gauges, operating pumps, and collecting core samples, all under the guidance of the Drilling Operator.
- Communicate effectively with the Drilling Operator and other crew members when coordinating drilling activities to allow smooth workflow of drilling and prevent incidences.
- Filling out daily drilling reports and keeping records of drilling operations, such as the drilling line.
- SHE management within the drilling function
