Zimasco (Pvt) Limited, a major player in Zimbabwe’s Ferrochrome sector, has an exciting and challenging career opportunity within its Shurugwi & South Dyke Mining Division.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, competent and experienced individuals to fill the vacant post of Drilling Operator on a 5-year Fixed-Term employment contract basis, renewable subject to performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 ‘O’ Levels including English, Mathematics and Science
- Certificate of Competency in Diamond Drilling operation.
- At least 4 years’ drilling experience in a Mining/Mineral processing environment with a good understanding of meter eater, kempe, and the ability to use Cantonu machines
- Full Blasting Licence/Surface Endorsed Blasting License holder is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of safety management systems, with exposure to the NOSA SHE system being an added advantage.
- Clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Set up and operate drilling machines to bore holes in metal blocks and other materials as per procedures, standards and comply with safety regulations.
- Maintenance of drilling equipment, laying core according to depth, coupling drilling rods, ferrying water, securing & carrying core trays and drilling equipment, digging sumps and concreting holes, greasing equipment etc.
- Reading gauges, operating pumps, and collecting core samples.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments.
- Maintain records of each drilling operation and prepare regular maintenance and production reports.
- Inspect finished products and ensure they meet the required standards
- Development and coaching of subordinates.
- SHE Management within the drilling section
